This week, Year 2 went on a fantastic tour of London, inspired by the book we are reading in literacy: A Walk in London by Salvatore Rubbino.
In the book, a little girl visits the sights of London with her mum. The author writes in the present tense so we feel like we are actually there. There are also some amazing facts about London included in the illustrations, so we’ve learned lots while enjoying the story. But what better way to really get to know the sights and sounds of the city than to follow in the little girl’s footsteps?
On our walk, we visited Big Ben, the Houses of Parliament, St. James’s Park, Buckingham Palace and Trafalgar Square.
We were lucky enough to see the pelicans at St. James’s Park and the guards and soldiers marching on the Mall. We got to hear a brass band and the chiming of Big Ben.
