Last week we celebrated the Hindu festival of Holi.  We had lots of fun throwing bright powder paint and creating colourful explosions in the playground.

Here are some facts about Holi festival:

• Holi is a spring festival celebrated by Hindus.
• It is also known as the festival of colours.
• It takes place every year in either February or March.
• Holi is celebrated in India and in many countries around the world.
• Hindus say goodbye to winter and welcome spring.
• Many new colours can be seen at this time of year.
• The festival is a time for Hindus to enjoy them.
• It’s also a time when people think about special Hindu stories.
• One of them is about a prince called Prahalad and his aunt Holika.
• It tells about the good characters winning over evil.
• Paint throwing is the most enjoyable part of the celebrations.
• Everybody is given bags of coloured powder.
• They have lots of fun throwing it over each other.
• Everywhere is covered with the brightly coloured powders!
