Year 5 students were chosen to take part in a Masters Project being run by a student at The Imperial College London. Just before half term, the student, Vivek, came in to speak with the children about air pollution, what causes it, how it is measured and the things we can do to try and reduce it.
Today, 6 super scientists (Mia, Zahara, Iffat, Sucdi, Riya and Freya) helped Vivek to choose points around the school grounds to place special tubes that over the next 3 weeks will ‘collect’ or ‘trap’ the dangerous gas ‘nitogen dioxide’ from the air. In 3 weeks time Vivek will collect the tubes and have them analysed and a laboratory. He will then put his data together and come back to let us know which parts of our school have the most air pollution and help us with ideas on how we can try and reduce it.
Keep your eyes open for those tubes, but please don’t touch them, thank you!
We will give you an update when we get the results in a few weeks.
