This week during Programming Week each class in KS2 has been programming and building Robots using the Lego Mindstorms NXT kits.
Each class was split into teams and given a basic robot that they had to programme. The programme they wrote used a light sensor to tell their robot to move in different ways depending on whether it was in the white of the Sumo Bot arena, or over the black at the edge.
Once the teams had built and programmed their robots they then battled it out to find out which team would represent the year in the grand final in Fridays Assembly.
The final comprised of The Crasher from year 6, The Destroyer from Year 5, Champion Firebox from Year 4, Red Tornado from 3M and Turbo Bot from 3N.
In what turned out to be a quickfire last Bot standing it came down to the robots of 3N and Year 6 – Turbo Bot and The Crasher. Turbo Bot won out and 3N were crowned the SumoBot champions for Programming Week 2014. The video of the battle is below and a gallery of the images can be seen by click here.
