Literacy

This week we’ve been writing a story based on the short animation ‘The Piano’. The children have demonstrated an understanding of all sorts of features to make their writing better. They know all about show, not tell, adverbials, subordinate clauses and can use them to create their killer sentence.

Topic

In topic, we’ve started to take our own photos around the schools. The children were set the challenge of taken pictures of various things and they rose to the challenge really well. Next week, we’ll be taking the photos and creating our own art based on them.

Tropical Inc.

Probably the most exciting thing to happen was the Tropical Inc. visit! We were visited by Steve and all his various, exotic animals. We saw:

• Tegu lizard
• Bearded dragon
• Albino hedgehog
• Meerkats
• Skunk
• African grey parrot
• Tarantula
• Scorpion
• Baby bullfrog

This week’s homework for literacy is to write up what happened so we don’t want to give it all away. We want the children to write down what they remember (you can use the photos to help you!). Get in as much detail as you can and research some of the animals as it’ll come in handy next week.
