As a Rights Respecting School we believe very strongly in democracy and the right of the individual to make informed choices. In this vein we could not let the general election pass without marking it in some way. So yesterday, the day of the election, our year 4 classes took on the role of our main naitonal political parties – The Conservatives, Labour, The Liberal Democrats, The Green Party and UKIP.
All of KS2 attended an election hustings, ably managed by our speaker for the day, Alima, and then the children were able to question the candidates before casting their votes.
Our results did not mirror the national results, but did tally with the results in our own Holborn and St Pancras constituency with a Labour lanslide victory.
The results in full were:
Labour Party 144 votes
Green Party 21 votes
Liberal Democrat Party 16 votes
Conservative Party 13 votes
UKIP 8 votes
