Corsica trip to London Zoo

On Monday, Corsica went to visit London Zoo. The children visited the Lemurs first and got told by a zoo keeper that the oldest lemur was 27 years old! The children then had two education sessions; one on endangered animals and one on animal adaptations. The children had the opportunity to stroke a corn snake and a hissing cockroach. The class was very brave! There was a lot of discussion about deforestation and the causes of it. The class talked about the illegal pet trade and how some animals are killed for the fur, skin and tusks. In groups of three, the children then went into ‘the rainforest’ using binoculars, checklists and digital thermometers to identify features of different animals. To finish, we visited the gorillas and tigers!
