Today was Brecknock Debate Day. Our motion was ‘This house believes that the Treaty of Versailles was too harsh.’ Mohammed preceeded the debate with an explanation of the historical context to help the audience understand the dabte. It was very well written and delviered. Then the debate begun. It was a lively and passionate debate with great arguments presented by both sides. The audience had lots of questions for both teams and the speakers never lost their cool and answered very well, although the opposition drew shocked gasps from the crowd when they suggested that perhaps mass anhillation would have been correct punishment after World War 1. Despite this the vote was very tight. The motion was narrowly carried by the opposition with the audience deciding that they agreed with the opposition and the treaty was not too harsh. Well done to everyone who took part and the audience for listening so attentively.
