Year 2 explored a scene from our class text – ‘The Lonely Beast’. The beast is caught up in a ‘garden of jellyfish’. We listened to and read a Michael Rosen poem about jellyfish:
The jellyfish dances through the water waving its frilly underwear!
We found one on the beach. It had become a polythene bag full of water.
Its frills lay on top like party ribbons after the dance is over.
Later in the week, the children will be generating ideas and writing their own jellyfish poems! For today though, we ‘became’ jellyfish using translucent materials; and slowly made our magical journey through the dark and mysterious ocean…
