Some of the Nursery children are taking part in some pilot forest school sessions in a small wildlife area next to the canal in Camden. The children have had lots of fun exploring the site, finding all kinds of creatures, building pretend fires, building dens and climbing the logs and trees. During the first session we learnt how to use palm drills to make holes in small discs of wood, we then used our discs to make spinners or necklaces. At the second session we practiced ‘Hapazome’, the ancient Japanese art of leaf bashing. We used mallets to bash leaves inside fabric and the leaves left a beautiful print on our fabric.
