As part of our topic, Temples, Tombs and Treasures, Year 4 had the opportunity to mummify tomatoes! They treated the tomatoes as though they were real bodies, but they didn’t include the linen wrapping. After leaving the tomatoes in salt for three weeks, the children took a look at the tomatoes to see what had changed. The tomato skin was strong and hadn’t rot! It was really disgusting but a great scientific experiment.
