Year 2 had a fantastic day visiting The Monument to end our Great Fire of London topic. Everyone climbed the 311 steps up to the top and enjoyed the fabulous view over London. The children were eager to point out the iconic buildings they knew and sketched some of them into their books.
Afterwards we walked to the Tate Modern and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the sunshine. Next we explored the gallery focussing on artwork by surrealist artist Joan Miro. The children were really enthused by the artwork and engaged in more sketching and interacted with some of the larger sculptures. It was a great day and the children returned to school exhausted.
