At Brecknock we want to encourage people to engage in healthy lifestyles. One way this can be achieved is to encourage cycling. For that reason we have arranged for a bike mechanic to come in to school this Thursday, the 9th, from the Camden Road Safety Team. He will be carrying out free health checks on bikes.
This event is open to children AND their parents. The mechanic will check your bike to ensure everything is working correctly. They will be able to make adjustments to brakes and gears including changing cables and brake blocks. If anything needs replacing to make the bike roadworthy that they don’t have the mechanic will advise you on what you need to do. Last year they replaced cables and fixed over 40 bikes!
If you want to take advantage of this opportunity, children should take their bikes in on Thursday morning and secure them in the bike racks. They will have the opportunity during the day to bring it to the mechanic to be checked over. Any parents wishing to bring along their bike, or their child’s bike, can do so at anytime between 10am-2.30pm (he may be here and ready slightly earlier!). We hope you will take advantage of this wonderful free opportunity to ensure your bikes are all safe, working and ready to go.
