There is something fishy going on in Reception!

This week we were visited by a very flustered fish, delivering scales and trying to make new friends. The mystery visitor was in such a hurry they didn’t even leave a name. Luckily we have some very clever fish in our class and we have been busy investigating.

Our class book this week is Rainbow fish, by Marcus Pfister and we have had a lot of very colorful fun with it. We have used our ever-growing maths brain and artistic skills to make friendship bracelets, pasta necklaces and even clay fish with all sorts of repeating patterns. And in case we do see our mystery fish again we have been writing down some tips for being a good friend.

We also got to be scientist and very carefully used scissors, knives, magnifying glasses and tweezers to explore and investigate real fish. We were able to scrape off some scale and look closely at a fish eye. It has been very messy but so much fun!
