Year 1 enjoyed a fantastic day outdoors as the entry point for our new topic, ‘Flowers and Insects’.

We visited Hampstead Heath Education Centre, where we took part in lots of different activities.

We collected natural materials to create ‘eco-art’ and then used these materials to decorate our own butterflies.

The rain held off as we searched for mini-beasts using magnifying glasses. We then went pond dipping, using nets to swill the water and collect more mini-beasts.

After trudging back in the rain, we arrived back at school, tired and happy, with lots of great memories.

It was a lovely day. A big thank you to all of the adults who accompanied us!
